Hit the road at 10 am this morning setting out for Hamadan. It proved easier than expected finding our way out of Rasht and navigating via Qazvin to find the road south. The freeways and then the secondary roads were excellent and we happily sat on 110 kmh for most of the way. We had a brief stop at what passes for a roadside cafe here for chai and a loo stop and as always, attracted the attention of the locals and were engaged in conversation briefly. Eventually arrived in Hamadan and managed to find the MarMar Hotel after asking once or twice. As we had increased our stay in Rasht by a day because of Sue being ill (a 24 hour tummy bug) and Tehran being on holiday due to the Non Aligned Nations Meeting we were unable to stay at our original hotel. Hotel MarMar proved to be quite an ordinary hotel but adequate under the circumstances. Found a local restaurant just down the road, the Alborz, and had an enjoyable meal and chatted with the restauranteur and other patrons before heading back to the hotel and turning in for the night.
Our blog created to record our experiences as we travel through Iran and Turkey on our own before joining an organised study tour in Turkey for the last two weeks of our journey Still trying to see as much of the planet as possible. We hope you enjoy our observations and holiday snaps.
