Set off this morning in overcast skies which soon turned to heavy rain for a while. Gilan province was certainly living up to it's reputation as the rainy province but on the upside it is beautifully green with lush vegetation along the Caspian coast extending to the Alborz mountains. A fairly uneventful drive with only a couple of stops for fuel and drinks until we arrived at the western outskirts of Bandar e Anzali at the Seffid Kennar hotel. Went for a walk along the seafront in between showers with the Caspian quite churned up. Achieved another sea in my strange ambition to put part of my body in every sea or ocean before I shuffle off this mortal coil - tick (well some people collect stamps don't they :-) ) We made enquiries at the desk afterward and the guy who runs the souvenir shop kindly arranged a guide for our visit to Masouleh tomorrow. Dinner at the hotel can't have been anything special as I can't even remember it.
Our blog created to record our experiences as we travel through Iran and Turkey on our own before joining an organised study tour in Turkey for the last two weeks of our journey Still trying to see as much of the planet as possible. We hope you enjoy our observations and holiday snaps.
